After defining the recovery protocol with AVE – Gestão Ambiental e Valorização Energética, the BORRACHA 2.0 (RUBBER 2.0) project entered a new phase of technical consolidation and industrial awareness.
Industrial trials were carried out to assess the stability of the results and the consistency of the recovery process on a real scale. These tests confirmed the feasibility of using non-fluorinated and non-chlorinated rubber waste as an alternative fuel in the cement industry, reinforcing the safety, technical rigour and environmental potential of the solution.
The entire process also made it possible to define the logistical aspects, both at the production companies facilities and in terms of transport to the waste management operator.
This solution also contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions associated with landfill disposal and fossil fuel consumption.
The BORRACHA 2.0 (RUBBER 2.0) project is now continuing with a select group of rubber component manufacturers, with the aim of testing the application of the protocol, validating the logistical aspects and creating a Good Practice Manual that will enable interested companies to join the process efficiently and in compliance with environmental legislation.
