BOLAS FELIZES project design

The BOLAS FELIZES (HAPPY BALLS) project emerged as a proposal for the circular valorisation of end-of-life tennis and padel balls, with the aim of giving them a new purpose.

The identification of the high volume of balls discarded by tennis and padel clubs led to a key question: how can a product with such a short lifespan be prevented from ending up in landfill? This reflection sparked the intention to find sustainable alternatives capable of transforming this common waste into new resources — whether as raw material or as functional material — while also inspiring a shift in mindset within the sports sector.

The initiative is led by JCConsulting and involves tennis and padel clubs, as well as technical partners, with the mission of developing solutions that combine innovation, sustainability and product design.

The work will take place in a laboratory and industrial context, through the collection of samples from clubs and the mapping of the main sources of waste. At this design stage, the aim is to understand the composition of the balls, analyse their reuse potential and identify viable transformation processes. Exploratory tests and preliminary prototypes are planned to assess the integration of recycled materials into new products.

More than a technical response, the BOLAS FELIZES project represents a journey of discovery - driven by curiosity, experimentation and environmental commitment - aiming to open new pathways for circular economy in sport.
